OWNER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Tell me a little about yourself
With an MBA in Marketing and a passion for good food, I found myself making a career out of my hobby for 30 years. Catering is a field that sparks creativity while affording me the pleasure of breaking bread with special friends.

What do you like most about your job?
That would be two fold. The obvious is watching trends in both food and presentation. Changing and keeping up with the latest trends. And second, the amazingly interesting people who come into my life and being able to share the special occasions of their lives with them.

Who/ What inspires you?
New ideas from my travels. I am always looking for the latest and greatest.

What is your favorite meal?
Anything Indian or Indonesian. Although a really good Raw Bar doesn’t suck!

What is your favorite drink?
I never met a drink I didn’t like except Tequila and White Zinfandel.

What is your Catering Nightmare?
Losing power, early arrivals, leaning wedding cakes and loud bands with too much ego!!

What is your Catering Heaven?
A really large budget! Your only as good as your budget.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
The Heidt Wedding 2014
I was so proud to be trusted by such a genuinely lovely family. It was an honor to be part of the memories to their joyous occasion.

Tell me a little about yourself
I am in my 50’s. I have 5 Children ranging in age from 9-30. Six of the most adorable grandchildren that hold my heart and a fabulous husband.

I started in the food industry when I was 15. My first job was at the food court in Florence Mall. I’ve done so many different aspects of the business that it would be really hard to list them all. I think my love for the food industry comes from my parents. Mom was a great comfort food cook and Dad loved dining out.

I had lobster and filet mignon by the age of 5 and was surprising wait staff by ordering it medium rare. In our family, food is entertainment and we all LOVE to entertain.

What do you like most about your job?
When I work our yearly Wedding Open Houses at different venues and I see the look on the Bride and Grooms faces as they talk to Jeff about their day. His creativity kicks in after he’s heard what their vision for their day is and he enhances it. It’s absolutely magical to watch.

Who/ What inspires you?
My family inspires me. Their love and support encourages me to be a better person.

What is your favorite meal?
STONE CRAB CLAWS! I need nothing else!

What is your favorite drink?
Old Fashioned

What is your Catering Nightmare?
Running out of food- or a fire in the kitchen.

What is your Catering Heaven?
Large budgets that allow you unique touches for an event. Events that are outside the box.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
Years ago at the Dayton Art Institute we did a multi station event for the daughter of a seafood distributor. There were piles of seafood on multiple stations- Beef Tenderloin- Pasta Stations- Dessert Stations with Graeter’s milkshakes, it went on and on. This was back when events were either buffet or seated so it was very exciting and cutting edge for that time. Everyone was blown away.

Tell me a little about yourself
I am 30 years old and have a Business Degree from Miami University. I have a wonderful husband and 3 beautiful children. I grew up in a family of “foodies”. With Jeff being my Uncle, I was raised with fine cuisine and dining from a very young age. You might say it’s in my blood. It has always been said to make a career out of your passion. Do what you love and it will never feel like work. I am very lucky in the fact that I have done just that.

What do you like most about your job?
I love working with the clients on their events and getting to experience their excitement through the process. The best part is that 5 to 10 minute period right before guest arrival time on large events. The room is set, the lights are dim, the staff is off the floor getting in their uniforms and I get to look around the room when it is empty and set perfectly and think “I helped do this”. That gives me an incredibly overwhelming feeling of pride.

Who/ What inspires you?
My family. Without them, especially Jeff Thomas, I would not be who I am today.

What is your favorite meal?
Seabass With Parmesan Truffle Risotto and sautéed Mushrooms

What is your favorite drink?
Old Fashioned

What is your Catering Nightmare?
An unorganized or unprepared staff

What is your Catering Heaven?
Going beyond the expectations of a client

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
CSO Opening Night 2014
CSO events are always so glamourous. This was one of the first really large events that I had a hand in. I will never forget it as long as I live.

Executive Chef

Tell me a little about yourself
I’m Cincinnati native, have been married for 17 years and have 2 wonderful children. My Daughter Audrey is 10 and my son Rhys is 14.
I have been cooking professionally for 29 years in a career that has taken me through every facet of the industry as well as an 8 year stint in Savannah Georgia.

What do you like most about your job?
The ability to be creative and the unique challenges that come with every event. In catering, every day is different, your work is in a different place and the work itself changes daily.

Who/ What inspires you?
The opportunity to constantly evolve and the exposure to different types of cuisine inspires me.

What is your favorite meal?
I don’t have a favorite meal per say. But if I have to pick one I would say Barbeque.

What is your favorite drink?
Iced Espresso

What is your Catering Nightmare?
Sunday Weddings!

What is your Catering Heaven?
Small dinner parties with creative course menus and being able to focus solely on the food and the presentation of it.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
The Heidt Wedding 2014
That is the bar by which all other events are now measured (how challenging they are, how lavish, how successful, how sleep deprived we become, etc.).

Sous Chef

Tell me a little about yourself
I’ve been in the culinary profession for 15 years. It was during my first job cooking that I realized my passion for the fast paced environment. After going to M.C.I. for my associates in culinary arts, I realized I’d found my path.

What do you like most about your job?
I love the freedom of my job. Being able to share the vision in my head with all of the guest is a great feeling. I love creating beauty under pressure, which is why I love catering.

Who/ What inspires you?
It’s the little things in life that inspire me. Sitting on the river fishing is my happy place. If I can make someone feel that same feeling with my food, that is my main goal.

What is your favorite meal?
Caribbean Jerk Pork with Black beans and Rice!

What is your favorite drink?
Bullet Rye on the Rocks

What is your Catering Nightmare?
Code Black

What is your Catering Heaven?
Working outside in beautiful weather

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
The Heidts Wedding. Everyone pulled together and had the same vision that evening and it went above and beyond anyone’s expectations.

Tell me a little about yourself
I am a Cincinnati Native but spent part of my life living in Long Island, New York. I moved there with a love and passion for food and earned a culinary degree at Suffolk College. My first job after graduation was at Have Your Cake in the Hamptons as a chef in the bakery. After spending 10 years in New York I moved home with my family. I have been working with Jeff Thomas Catering for 3 years now as their Pastry Chef.

What do you like most about your job?
The freedom to create new desserts and always put my own spin on the desserts I make. Also, just being able to do what I love.

Who/ What inspires you?
Food inspires me. Even Savory. I love everything about it. How beautiful all the different ingredients are and the endless possibilities there is with new flavor combinations.

What is your favorite meal?
Savory- A good Fish Taco
Sweet- By far Crème Brulee, so simple but if done well so good.

What is your favorite drink?
Coffee and Long Island Iced Tea.

What is your Catering Nightmare?
September 4th 2015 at Ault Park was and will forever be my catering Nightmare. I would like to never have to work in a “Hurricane” again!

What is your Catering Heaven?
A fully equipped, air conditioned kitchen.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
The Heidt Wedding 2014
It was so beautiful. It was one of the hardest parties that I have ever worked but everything was executed beautifully and I was very proud to be a part of it all coming together.
Also my “Hurricane Wedding”
It was the largest seated meal I had done yet and with the circumstances of the evening (due to the weather) our team pulled off a great night. I will never forget it. I have never seen a place get destroyed so fast. However, in the end the guests had so much fun and stayed so positive.
