OWNER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Tell me a little about yourself
With an MBA in Marketing and a passion for good food, I found myself making a career out of my hobby for 30 years. Catering is a field that sparks creativity while affording me the pleasure of breaking bread with special friends.

What do you like most about your job?
That would be two fold. The obvious is watching trends in both food and presentation. Changing and keeping up with the latest trends. And second, the amazingly interesting people who come into my life and being able to share the special occasions of their lives with them.

Who/ What inspires you?
New ideas from my travels. I am always looking for the latest and greatest.

What is your favorite meal?
Anything Indian or Indonesian. Although a really good Raw Bar doesn’t suck!

What is your favorite drink?
I never met a drink I didn’t like except Tequila and White Zinfandel.

What is your Catering Nightmare?
Losing power, early arrivals, leaning wedding cakes and loud bands with too much ego!!

What is your Catering Heaven?
Using culinary research from around the globe to set new trends.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
The Heidt Wedding 2014
I was so proud to be trusted by such a genuinely lovely family. It was an honor to be part of the memories to their joyous occasion.

Tell me a little about yourself
I am 26 years old and have a Marketing Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. My family has always been a huge part of my life and I have learned to never take one moment with them for granted. Growing up, I continuously seemed to find a job within the food industry, all the way from my very first job in high school up until now. I started off at this company at a server, then moved to Wedding Coordinator, then Event Coordinator, and now General Manager. This company means everything and the people in it are my family.

What do you like most about your job?
The people I work with are definitely what I like most about my job. They have given me the confidence I need to be able to take over this role.

Who/ What inspires you?
I am a person that believes everything happens for a reason. That itself gives me motivation and inspires me that anything is possible.

What is your favorite meal?
I prefer dessert over my meal, I have a huge sweet tooth.

What is your favorite drink?
Coffee! Preferably Iced!

What is your Catering Nightmare?
To ever hear that a client is unsatisfied with our services or product.

What is your Catering Heaven?
Hearing a client be referred to us and want to use our services because someone they know used us and loved us! Any type of compliment from a client always feels good.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
Every event is always different and memorable in its own way. I love working weddings and seeing how much love is shared on this special day. I also love working galas and non profits. There are so many amazing organizations that give back to our community that I never knew about until I started working here.

Sous Chef

Tell me a little about yourself
I am 30 years old and have been cooking for the better part of the past 13 years. I have had a few different jobs over the years but I have always been drawn back to the kitchen. When I first started, cooking was just a paycheck but it quickly became a passion. I have worked under some amazing chefs and in doing so, it has only bolstered the love for my craft.

What do you like most about your job?
For me, making people happy has always been one of the best feelings. There is no better way than “Breaking Bread” to bring people together. Being given the opportunity to make someone’s big day special means so much to all of us. Being a part of a team that cares so much about making our clients night memorable is such a wonderful feeling.

Who/ What inspires you?
It would have to start with my family. Every year both sides of the family would come to our house for the holiday. My mom would be hard at work for days prior to the family’s arrival. She would single handedly create a buffet of food for 30+ people and make it look easy.
After that, it’s a list of amazing chefs that I’ve been fortunate enough to work with. From my Head Chef Coby Lowry at Ferrari’s Little Italy or my Chef at Quarter Bistro, Sean Williams to the team of Chefs at Sotto, Jacob Wood, Chris DuBois and Kaity Bourgeois, each one has been an encouragement to continue to better myself.

What is your favorite meal?
It’s so hard to pick any one meal. Lamb with chimichurri is definitely one of my favorites. But then there’s pasta, with a little water, egg and flour the possibilities are endless.

What is your favorite drink?
There’s just something nostalgic about a glass bottle of Coke.

What is your Catering Nightmare?
To hear that a couple didn’t have the most memorable time on their big day.

What is your Catering Heaven?
Bringing people together through food regardless of the occasion.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
I was lucky enough to be able to prepare the food and work an Indian wedding. From the food to the attire and the ceremony, everything was so beautiful and rich in culture.

Jess Marsh

Wedding Coordinator

Tell me a little about yourself
I started working for the company as a server when I was 17. I went to college, got a teaching degree, and went down a few different paths. I have worked for the company on and off for my entire adult life, but just stepped into the wedding coordinator position about a year ago. I have 3 kids that are my whole life. My family is a very important part of my life.

What do you like most about your job?
I like the way that my job has become a second family to me. Most of the people I work with have been here for quite a while and we have grown past coworkers to close friends. I love that I can rely on them and that they can rely on me. It makes my job so much more enjoyable that I get to see some of my best friends every day when I come to the office.

Who/ What inspires you?
My 3 kids and my partner inspire me everyday to do my best. My family is the force that drives me to be the best person I can be.

What is your favorite meal?
I love all different varieties of food, it’s hard to pick just one thing. If I had to pick a meal it would be gnocci with foie gras as the appetizer. Definitely something chocolate for the dessert too.

What is your favorite drink?
Hot coffee in the morning or an ice-cold coke in a Styrofoam cup.

What is your Catering Nightmare?
My catering nightmare would be if there was no way to prepare the food at an event. If something happened where there wasn’t a kitchen, space to prep, an oven, or something like that.

What is your Catering Heaven?
A perfectly executed wedding with a happy bride and groom. Also, a happy staff that had fun working the event.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
I worked a prom a few years ago with some really well-mannered students. It was so much fun to work, the staff was great, they loved the food, and it was just one of those really enjoyable events to work. I got to see the prom king and queen get crowned and ended up knowing the king from my personal life. It’s so cool when our personal lives overlap an event. It makes it that much more special to be providing service when you know someone at the event.

Tell me a little about yourself
I am 32 and a half, born and raised here in Cincinnati, Ohio. I’ve always had a fascination with food and beverage, especially when I am making food that I love for people that I love (while enjoying the beverages). It’s something I’ve always been enamored with even before I was old enough to reach the stove, so naturally ever since I’ve been old enough to work, I’ve been in the food industry.

What do you like most about your job?
No matter who you are or where you’re from, everybody loves to eat. We may not all agree on certain dishes but that’s the fun part.

Who/ What inspires you?
Making other people happy is all the inspiration I need. And Brad Pitt.

What is your favorite meal?
The one and only perfect, medium rare, pan seared Ribeye with a garlic-thyme-butter bath. Hands down, any other brain busters?!

What is your favorite drink?
This ones a little trickier… either Coca-Cola Classic or chocolate milk if they don’t have beer.

What is your Catering Nightmare?
I had a bad dream once where all the hot things were cold and the cold things were all hot, that would suck.

What is your Catering Heaven?
Perfection. When everything goes exactly according to plan. There is almost an impossible number of moving pieces and when they all fall into place perfectly, it’s really cool to watch.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
The most memorable events are, of course, the ones when things don’t go exactly to plan. Sometimes we get thrown a curveball, whether it’s a flat tire or a power outage. These are the events I love the most. When things happen that are just out of our control but time and time again as a team, we ace the test - I believe that’s the most satisfying feeling in any line of work.

I am 46 years old, married to my husband Barry for 26 years with 3 adult children and I have a bonus daughter. We currently have 6 grandchildren, 3 boys and 3 girls that I adore! Spending time with family has always been a priority to me! I am a bit of a workaholic but that’s easy to do when you love your job. I started with the company as a server for extra money. Little did I know it would be the best decision I ever made. I have always loved planning parties, setting them up, crafting things for parties and seeing them thru! I love JTC and everything we do!

What do you like most about your job?
I love my JTC family and all the passion everyone puts into their job! The fact that everyone Is always putting in 100% to make sure every event goes off flawlessly to the absolute best off their ability Is amazing. I also get to see so many new and creative ideas come to life thru food, decoration, and floral. Being a part in so many client’s special events is a tremendous honor in my eyes!

Who/ What inspires you?
I love crafting and making things with my own spin on them. I like to find ideas on Pinterest and try to make them my own.

What is your favorite meal?
Oddly enough I love salad, chef salad, grilled chicken, and fresh garden salad are a few of my favorite!

What is your favorite drink?
Mt. Dew

What is your Catering Nightmare?
For me it would be not meeting or exceeding a client’s expectations for their event. Although I also have a fear that a guest with a severe allergy would be served something accidentally causing a reaction.

What is your Catering Heaven?
Being told by clients that we have gone above and beyond their expectations!

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
I worked The Holocaust opening at Museum Center for 900 people and it was a kosher event. The amount of planning, prep, and staff it took to make that event happen was astounding! It was so stressful for everyone but they made it happen flawlessly!

Tell me a little about yourself
I am currently in grad school working towards a degree in Clinical Mental Health at NKU. I intern at a community mental health center along with working for the company. I have always had a passion for baking and loved it growing up. I have been a server for the company for quite a few years now. When the pastry position opened up, I gladly stepped in. It’s been a couple years and I love being able to make desserts and try out new recipes. I have 3 kiddos in my life that are my first priority. I love my family and they are a huge part of my life.

What do you like most about your job?
I like that I get to always to try new recipes. The ideas that flow from the office are always unique and different. It’s fun to research and try out new recipes to make their ideas come to life.

Who/ What inspires you?
My grandpa inspires me every day to be the best person I can be. He taught me everything I know.

What is your favorite meal?
I am a very picky eater, but my favorite meal would have to be a really good hot fudge brownie sundae. I would pick dessert over savory food any day.

What is your favorite drink?
Dr. Pepper or chocolate milk

What is your Catering Nightmare?
An event where the crowd is to busy mingling that they do not eat much of the food. It’s always so disappointing to work an event where you prep a bunch of food, and the crowd doesn't get a chance to enjoy it.

What is your Catering Heaven?
Something sports themed with super fun food. It’s always fun to work events where you have to grill food, spin cotton candy, or make snow cones. The more unique, the better.

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
I worked a house party a couple years ago that was sports themed. All of the staff got to where sports jerseys and they had super fun menu items, they even had jello shots. There were cool blow-up sports games and the party was around the pool. It was such a fun event to work and it was definitely one I won’t forget.

I am 31 years old and have three children. When I’m not working, I enjoy doing just about anything outdoors. Every job I’ve had since I was 17 was either retail or in the food/service industry, and although it can be extremely tough at times, I genuinely love to be of service and help people. I love learning new things and catering is a great outlet for that because each event, client, and venue is different.

What do you like most about your job?
As mentioned above I love to constantly be learning new things. Something that goes hand in hand with this in the catering industry is problem solving. This is one of my passions. I love the challenge of being presented with a task and the satisfaction I receive from being able to accomplish it. I also appreciate the physical aspect of my job, as exercise and staying in shape is a high priority of mine.

Who/ What inspires you?
I find myself inspired by my children the most. They are a constant reminder of obstacles I have faced and overcome. In their eyes I am a superhero, and they have endless faith and confidence in me.

What is your favorite meal?
I will never turn down and good cheeseburger! But anything I don’t have to prepare myself is enjoyable. I love trying new foods.

What is your favorite drink?
Hot, straight, strong coffee!

What is your Catering Nightmare?
A catering nightmare for me would probably center around a last-minute problem that just flat out does not have a solution. For example, a bad storm at an outdoor wedding. I have worked this scenario a couple times, and we just did the best we could!

What is your Catering Heaven?
Catering heaven for me is receiving positive client feedback! Knowing that a person is happy with the food, service, and overall turnout of the event makes all the hard work that much more worth it!

What is the most memorable event that you have ever worked with JTC and why?
This one is a toss-up! Serving 850 guests a Kosher meal at our Holocaust for Humanity event that took place inside the lobby of the Cincinnati Museum was very memorable and exciting. But, it’s tied with a Kosher Bar-mitzvah that was actually a two-day event at two different venues. These are memorable because the amount of planning and work that goes into preparing Kosher meals. To see the amount of people we were able to serve and know the guests were impressed just makes you feel accomplished.
